With the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition, TITONI presents one of two limited special models of its popular diving watch series. The striking timepiece with the orange dial is extremely rare! Just 100 pieces were made. How good that one found its way on my desk….
TITONI follows up
After the Seascoper 300 model series was successfully received by the market, the Swiss manufacturer TITONI follows up and presents two new, limited special editions of its entry-level diver’s watch in July 2023, which is actually not a real diver’s watch for beginners, but can do so much more.
I was able to experience this myself at the end of last year when I wore the then freshly presented TITONI Seascoper 300 83300 S-BE-706 on my wrist and tested it extensively. The Seascoper 300 is another example that you don’t necessarily have to buy a top model to wear good quality, beautiful design and precision. This was ultimately the deciding factor in the Seascoper finding a place in my list of the 18 Best Diving Watches 2022/23 – right next to its big sister, the flagship TITONI Seascoper 600.
So much, then, for my previous experience with Seascoper watches, the divers from the house of TITONI. Before today’s watch review, the question is thus less whether the two limited references are fundamentally good diving watches. Rather, the question is whether the hunt for the few and coveted copies is worth it. Of course, not everyone has the specification list of the conventional Seascoper 300 in mind anymore, so we’ll take a detailed look at the timepiece anyway.
Both special models at a glance
First of all, I’ll give you a short overview. First, there is the reference 83300 B-BK-R-716|Limited Edition – a real Black Beauty. There are 500 pieces worldwide and it will stay that way. Here, all specifications regarding size, materials, movement and technology are identical to the sister model that TITONI sent me. So, if you favor the 83300 B-BK-R-716, you can read on.
I am now wearing the so-called Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition. Even at first glance, it is obvious that it is the much more radical approach to designing a special model. “Orange is the new black” you could say. Here, an orange dial meets a matte black case. No, it doesn’t hit, it pops. That’s what I call color blocking! The diver’s watch with the reference 83300 B-BK-R-715|Limited Edition easily attracts attention. This is fueled by the fact that this Seascoper, with only 100 pieces, is once again significantly rarer than the black-on-black variant.
My first impression of the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition
TITONI knows how to bring the premium claim to the buyer already with the design of the box. This is in a black cardboard box and is adorned by two shimmering plaques. The lettering LIMITED EDITION makes clear: this diver’s watch is an exclusive timepiece. The same applies to the warranty card in the fancy paper envelope.
This orange 83300 B-BK-R-715 is definitely not a wallflower, you have to be clear about that. The black and orange color combination is certainly less versatile than a stainless steel version with a black or blue dial. However, its wearers could care less about that. You have to love the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition. Those who do, wear it confidently and make a statement.
The powerful color combination makes the Color Block Edition the ideal watch for summer. Unadjusted, sporty and never boring, it is the perfect companion to wear on the beach, on the promenade or while snorkeling in the coral reef.
With its diameter of 42 millimeters, the Seascoper 300 once again proves its mass suitability. In fact, anyone can wear it. But even more decisive is the length between the lugs, which is 52 millimeters, making the watch fit best on wider wrists.
Blacker than black?
As with the non-limited special models, the case of the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is made of stainless steel. What’s new is the DLC coating, which gives the diver its extremely sporty look. A matte DLC look not only looks good, it also brings crucial functional advantages. Stainless steel is in itself a durable, scratch-resistant and therefore long-lasting material. However, the Diamond-Like Carbon finish gives the orange Seascoper the finishing touch and makes it even a little more robust against external influences. So it becomes clear: the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is not a watch for the showcase, but created for an active lifestyle and can take a lot. I am in love with the excellent workmanship of the case and its surfaces. Allergy sufferers can also wear the watch without hesitation, because the DLC coating is particularly gentle on the skin.
Details of the case
By the way, the name 300 was not chosen arbitrarily. As some will have guessed, it stands for the water resistance of the diver’s watch, which is a maximum of 300 meters or 30 bar. This means that the Seascoper 300 outperforms most diving watches, but not the more professional Seascoper 600, which clearly shows that you have to weigh up exactly which detail you can do without – or not. In addition to protection against water penetration, the case is also armed against dust and dirt.
But back to the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition. On the back of the case is a surface that is set off from the rest, which TITONI affectionately calls a “porthole” but has no function of its own. The fact that the model is a limited edition is also made clear by the lettering LIMITED EDITION ONE OF ONE HUNDRED. Something different than what is usually engraved on case backs – I personally like that. TITONI has dispensed with a helium valve.
Certified as a COSC chronometer
While the Seascoper 600 is powered by the self-constructed manufacture caliber T10, a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement ticks inside the 300 series. TITONI has had the caliber used here certified as a chronometer. This means that it must meet strict requirements laid down by the Swiss COSC testing agency. For example, the accuracy must not exceed -4 to +6 seconds per day. The COSC chronometer certification increases the manufacturer’s warranty by 1 year to a total of 3 years.
Dial and bracelet of the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition
Beauty, as we all know, is in the eye of the beholder. While some love the orange enamel coating of the dial, others don’t warm up to the signal color at all. In fact, there is more to the decision than just the desire to create the most eye-catching design possible. Underwater, the dial of the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition stands out more against the dark, bluish background than black or blue variants. Thus, the already good readability is improved, which is achieved by the tidy arrangement of the individual elements. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and the luminous coating of the indices of the dial and ceramic bezel do the rest.
By default, the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is worn on a black rubber strap. In contrast to the competition, the manufacturer does not use a buckle, but a folding clasp. If you like it a bit more casual and chic, you can switch to a textile strap away from the coral reef, which is included in the delivery. It was made of ocean plastic. This means that TITONI is now also following the trend of incorporating sustainability and environmental awareness more strongly into the end product.
My conclusion about the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition
TITONI didn’t take long to come up with a limited edition of the Seascoper 300. Logically, the collection is well received by customers and fans. The TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is a diver’s watch with a powerful design that exudes energy and temperament with its hard contrast. Thus, the timepiece somehow does not want to fit into the ensemble of other references. And that’s exactly what I find so good! TITONI puts the Seascoper 300 once again in a completely new light with this special model. The diver’s watch with the orange dial is a statement on the wrist that has earned its limitation.
Nevertheless, the basis has to be right. What use is the sporty design with matte surfaces if the actual watch leaves an unpleasant feeling behind. At this point, I can only highlight the points that I already noticed positively in my first watch test of the 300 series. This one impresses with its successful choice of materials and excellent workmanship. In addition, they seem to know exactly what their customers want and need. In contrast to the big Seascoper 600, the little sister does without the performance that only professionals demand. Crucial features like the COSC chronometer certification are nevertheless adopted by the small Seascoper.
With prices of 1,700.00 euros, the Color Block Edition 83300 B-BK-R-715 and its sister model are slightly above the usual references of the series. Below I have linked you all the important info.
