LOCH MORAR
THE DEEPEST BODY OF WATER IN BRITAIN
We name all our watches after bodies of water, mainly in the UK but sometimes further afield. When we approached our dive watch project we knew the name was going to be of utmost importance, and the depth of the water would be similarly so. Luckily we have a hugely deep loch in Scotland, Loch Morar, which is 310 metres deep.
For a project spanning over 3 years, the Morar certainly should be old news to us. Yet each time we look at it we are filled with excitement, for we have created our very first dive watch, and it’s a beautiful thing.
When we started the Morar project we knew we wanted to create something unique, which in the dive watch world is almost impossible. Yet here we are. The result of an incredible level of effort, thought, discussion and execution, the Morar hits every point we wanted to achieve; unique, robust, resolved and distinguished. It’s been a labour of love for us and we’re overjoyed to put our name to it and send it out into the world, for everyone to use and enjoy. And use it you can; the Morar is not just a good-looker, it’s a proper dive watch designed to survive at depths that few humans could.
ALL ROADS LEAD HERE
We designed the Morar to be a dive watch that can be used as a dive watch. In MWC we follow very few rules except one; nothing unnecessary. If it doesn’t need to be there, it shouldn’t be there. By following this ethos it allows us to design freely and accurately, knowing that only the elements that bring utility and clarity to the design will make the cut.
As such the Morar is, in our humble opinion, a dive watch in the purest form; no aesthetic quirks, no luxury materials and no claims of status. It is a robust, beautifully made, expertly engineered instrument that can withstand any diving environment found in both recreational and professional diving.
About Marloe Watch Company
Marloe Watch Company is an independent designer and producer of wrist watches based in Oxfordshire, England, owned by Oliver and Gordon. Having crossed paths in the spring of 2015, they created Marloe to reinvigorate the world of mechanical timepieces.
Oliver turns the cogs; from production to logistics, accounts to marketing, he oversees the running of the company to make sure everything is going smoothly, and dabbles in the odd sketch from time to time. Gordon is the designer; from design seed to video production, manufacturing to photography; Gordon controls all design work and visual output.
TRADITION & DESIGN
Taking their name from the town of Marlow, close to where Oliver grew up, the company’s values are strongly bound to tradition and design. And it’s these values, along with a passion for timepieces, that inspired the creation of beautiful watches powered by mechanical movements.
SLOW LIVING
As watches get smarter, and lives more complicated, there is a movement embracing the slow-living counter culture, going back to the simple things, celebrating tradition. So as the technology brands fight it out over who makes the smartest watch, Marloe is proudly going against the grain to create the most traditional of all watches.
