Always ready for action: That’s what our range of mission timers has stood for for 25 years now. This statement can also be taken literally with regard to our EZM 1.1 S! Because the mission timer has everything it takes to withstand even the most adverse conditions. We have given it the necessary technological equipment for the most demanding missions. For example, the Ar-Dehumidifying technology for increased functional and fogging safety or the functional reliability in the temperature range from – 45 °C to + 80 °C. We have also surface-hardened the bead-blasted stainless steel case using TEGIMENT technology, which forms the basis for the black hard coating. It gives the chronograph value, modernity and professionalism. Combined with the fact that this combination represents the most durable form of black coating that is feasible according to the current state of the art.
Stop time from the center: exemplary in terms of readability
For the EZM 1.1 S to be able to perform its core task – displaying accurate time measurement – without restriction, it must not only have taker qualities, but also function like a precise instrument. The highest priority here is perfect readability, the requirement to capture time scenarios as far as possible at a glance, even when things get turbulent in the field. For this purpose, the EZM 1.1 S has the appropriate SINN chronograph movement. We designed the SZ01, based on the proven Concepto C99001, so that the watch has a jumping 60-minute stopwatch hand from the center. The consequence: stop times can be recorded more easily, quickly and accurately. For one thing, 60 instead of 30 minutes are counted in one hand revolution. Secondly, the assigned minute stopwatch scale can be seen over the full dial diameter.

Another useful tool for short time measurement, besides the chronograph function, is the bilaterally rotating, backward-counting pilot’s bezel with minute click. To prevent it from popping off, it has been captively attached to the case. In the interest of readability and timekeeping, we have also visually reduced all printing on the dial that is irrelevant for use by using red color. We have also carefully chosen the position of the crown and pusher on the left side of the case. Neither control element presses on the back of the hand at this position. And even in the greatest of haste, getting caught is virtually impossible. All this shows: The EZM 1.1 S is serviceable down to the last detail.
Special edition for the anniversary
The EZM design of the EZM 1.1 S thus created for best readability stands on the shoulders of proven role models. In fact, the chronograph is a special edition limited to 500 pieces. The occasion is the 25th anniversary of our operational timepieces. It all began in 1997 with the now legendary EZM 1 – a chronograph that set standards in terms of functional performance and clear readability. No wonder, since it was developed by us for professional users who have to rely unconditionally on their watch, because mission success and sometimes human lives depend on it. This refers to the Central Customs Support Group (ZUZ), a special unit subordinate to the Customs Criminal Investigation Office, comparable to a special police task force (SEK).
The form follows the function
With this founding clock, the development DNA for all subsequent operational timepieces was described: Construction exclusively according to the conditions of use, i.e. form follows function. Whether pilots, divers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, rescue forces, special units of the German Federal Police such as the GSG 9 or the Naval Special Forces Command (KSM): we have developed each mission timekeeper exactly according to this premise based on individual requirements. Cooperation with experts is very important here – in other words, with those who actually use the watches. Especially since the conditions in which our mission timers have to prove themselves are as varied as they are challenging. These can be wetness, magnetism, extreme heat and cold as well as strong temperature changes, but also vibrations, shocks, impacts and aggressive liquids such as salt water or disinfectants. Often enough, everything comes together at once. In short, our mission timers have to withstand a lot – especially when the going gets tough.

Because they are equipped with corresponding functions due to their specific operational requirements, no two operational timepieces are alike in the result.
