The YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition is perhaps the most beautiful version of the French diver currently available. With a black or blue dial, it is designed to make the bestseller even more sophisticated. YEMA has also made improvements under the patina: a new, high-performance manufacture caliber is ticking away…
The new flagships with bronze cases
For years, the watches in the Superman collection from traditional French manufacturer YEMA have been among its most popular models. What’s more, the Superman is one of the most famous French diving watches ever. Reason enough for YEMA to equip the former three-hand diver’s watch in every conceivable color, with different materials, bracelets or functions.
I tested the latest example of this “diversification” a few weeks ago. The YEMA Superman 500 GMT(reference number YGMT22A) has – as the name suggests – a GMT function. Like other variants, you can purchase this watch in my shop.
This also applies to the YEMA Superman Bronze Blue Limited Edition (reference number CMM.10.11.13.35) and YEMA Superman Bronze Black Limited Edition (reference number CMM.10.11.13.36), which are available there. Please note: these two references are again conventional three-hand watches, but with a high-quality bronze case.
The trendy material has found its way into almost every model range in recent years and it is now hard to imagine life without it. A hype that shows no sign of declining. Bronze develops its own patina over time. So you can watch your timepiece as it matures individually.
YEMA Superman Bronze – the limited edition in detail
The YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition is even more coveted due to its limited edition of 1948 pieces per color. You will find the production number engraved on the case back of your watch, which is delivered in a beautifully crafted box with a wooden look – now that’s what I call a collector’s box!
The case is available in each color variant with a diameter of either 39 or 41 millimeters. As in the case of the GMT, I personally would tend towards the more compact version with a wrist circumference of 17 centimetres. The bezel protrudes, making the watch appear somewhat larger than it actually is. Barely curved lugs also speak for the 39 millimeter diameter.
YEMA itself claims to have drawn inspiration from legendary diving watches of the 1970s when designing this piece of bronze jewelry. This includes the iconic self-titled “Lollipop” second hand. In a bronze version, it finds its way back onto the dial of a Superman for the first time in over 50 years.
What the bezel lock is all about
If you’ve never heard of it before, you might question the meaningfulness of the rectangular frame next to the crown at first. Superman models have had it since the 1960s. The recognizable bezel lock is patented and prevents the diver from unintentionally adjusting the bezel. The bezel is only locked when the crown is screwed down. If the crown is unscrewed, the bezel can be easily adjusted again.
The indices, hands and the diving triangle on the bezel are coated with bright blue SuperLuminova, which guarantees legibility even in the dark.
The best YEMA caliber of all time?
The Caliber Manufacture Morteau 10 (CMM.10) is at work in the YEMA Superman Bronze. According to YEMA, the manufacture caliber took 3 years to develop. Bridges and plates are produced in the company’s own workshops in Morteau. This is also where the assembly, adjustment and final inspection of the movement take place. YEMA aims to guarantee maximum precision with its shock protection devices and escapements. The movement is also resistant to magnetic fields. The new, large barrel enables a power reserve of an enduring 70 hours.
A special Tropic strap made of rubber was developed especially for the YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition, which is durable and suitable for use under water or during other sporting activities. Of course, a good bronze watch also has a strap with a clasp complete with bronze patina. Depending on the wrist size, the bracelet is available in small or large.
My conclusion on the YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition
The best and most beautiful Superman of all time? Maybe. With its level of workmanship and especially the new manufacture caliber, YEMA has surpassed itself and is entering new spheres. Personally, I would go so far as to say that there is no more beautiful Superman in the current model range than the YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition. However, everyone has to decide that for themselves.
Regardless of color and diameter, the YEMA Superman Bronze Limited Edition costs 1,790.00 euros in both black and blue. The warranty is not the usual 2 years, but a whopping 5 years! All other links can be found below.
